Grand Jury: High Speed Chase on East Main Street to Downtown Chillicothe

The Ross County Grand Jury returned all 16 of their cases Friday, April 26th, 2024, with nine open for release to the public. From testimony in the grand jury in one of the cases, according to the Ross County Prosecutor’s Office:

On March 16th, a Ross County Sheriff’s Deputy attempted a traffic stop on a vehicle at the Pilot gas station at the east end of Main Street.

But the driver left westbound at a high rate of speed, running red lights at Douglas Avenue and Cutright Drive, reaching 80 to 90 miles an hour, and running a red light at Watt Street.

He struck a crosswalk sign on East Second Street and finally stopped at Second and Paint, where he left the vehicle, but was detained. The deputy smelled alcohol on 29-year-old Kevin Eugene Howard of Poplar Ridge Road near Frankfort.

For indictments on third degree-felony failure to comply, and misdemeanor OVI, Howard could get up to 3 1/2 years and $11,000 in fines.
